We work with companies to identify and implement need-based solutions to improve workplace safety and human performance. We work with companies from all industries, particularly those inhigh risk industries such as power, oil and gas, construction, aviation, and shipbuilding.

We work with clients from problem identification to problem resolution.Our products and services are based on best practices of the United States military and scientific research on safety and human performance.With each problem-solving step, we offer products and services that can serve as stand-alone offerings.We do not employ a “one size fits all” consulting approach. Our solutions are customized to clients’ needs. Our solutions are reviewed and validated by an industrial/organizational psychologist with considerable experience and expertise in matters related to safety and human performance.
How We Do It
With every client engagement, we utilize a three-step problem solving approach informed by years
of practical experience.
STEP 1: ASSESS
We administer a Safety Culture Assessment to gain a deeper, more objective understanding of an
organization’s (or worksite’s) unique safety culture and related safety/human performance needs.
STEP 2: CONSULT/TRAIN
Based on the results of the Assessment, we work with the client to develop a need-based
safety/performance improvement plan built around our three core training offerings: leadership
training, error reduction training, and field engagement training.
STEP 3: MEASURE
To evaluate the effectiveness of our training efforts (i.e., assess attitude and behavior change), we
administer a follow-up Safety Culture Assessment. Based on the clients’ needs, we administer a
variety of additional optional research-based evaluation techniques designed to further measure
the effectiveness of the training efforts (e.g., statistical studies, employee focus groups).
Commander Kelly Sullivan
Kelly is the founder of CZS. He was reared in the oil country of South Louisiana. As a result, he has first-hand knowledge of the unique needs and demands of the oil and gas industry. Over the last 25 years, he has leveraged this knowledge, along with his 21 years of military experience, into a successful career as an oil and gas industry consultant.
Dr. Allen Watson
Allen is an operating partner with CZS. He and his team are responsible for the design and evaluation of CZS’ consulting products and services. Prior to joining CZS, Allen provided independent consulting services to a variety of companies in a broad range of human performance improvement areas. He holds a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology and is a former visiting professor at Tulane University’s School of Continuing Studies and Millsaps College’s Else School of Management.
